John L. Mortali
AIKEN - John L. Mortali, of Aiken, South Carolina, left this world on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Laurie Palmer Mortali. John was preceded in death by his father John L Mortali, his mother Mary Mortali, his brother-in-law Kenneth P. Kaminsky Sr., and step-son Richard R. Campbell.
John was born in West Haven, Connecticut on February 28, 1940. Throughout his life, John had the pleasure of working for Bethlehem Steel where he retired after 30 years. He continued his career with British Steel and then started a new adventure in the lighting business in Marietta and Augusta GA for over 20 years. John also proudly volunteered as an appointed member of the Aiken county transportation commission for the last 8 years. John received the honor of being a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus at the age 26.
John is survived in death by his three daughters Lisa Mortali Herold (Mike Herold), Diane Mortali Brewer, Karen Mortali Pitts (Allen Pitts), step-daughter Jennifer Campbell Ling (Aaron Ling), his 11 grandchildren Myles and Melissa Herold, Jonathan, Chase and Gabrielle Brewer, Jonsie and Avery Pitts, Jared and Harrison Campbell and Evan and Ava Ling and his loving sister, Janet Kaminsky. John also leaves behind many cousins, nephews and many friends whom he enjoyed traveling with. John loved to play golf, entertaining and cooking for his family and friends as well as the study of fine wines. John's family meant the world to him and John absolutely meant the world to his family.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church 203 Park Ave SE, Aiken, SC 29803 with the Very Reverend Father Gregory Wilson as celebrant.
