John Mitchum Obituary

John Mitchum Sr.
AIKEN - Mr. John W. Mitchum, Sr., age 96, entered into rest on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Lee) Garvin, Hazel Bledsoe, Katherine (Billy) Eagerton; Donna (Mohammed) Owais; daughter-in-law, Shelly Mitchum; Sara Richardson Mitchum; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his first wife; Jennie Barrs Mitchum; parents, John Wesley and Emma Cockrell Mitchum; sister, Louise; brothers, Bennie Frank Mitchum, Thomas "Sonny" Mitchum; Robert "Bobby" Mitchum; son, John William Mitchum; and great-grandson, Ryan Parker Eagerton.
Mr. Mitchum served in the United States Navy and was employed by the Graniteville Company as a "Slasher". He was also a member of the Stiefeltown Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and all whose lives he touched in his 96 years here on earth.
A graveside service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Monday February 13, 2023 at 10am at the Warrenville Cemetery with Mr. Mitchum's nephew, Mark Mitchum officiating.
