John Kilpatrick Obituary
ROCK HILL, SC - Mr. John Leroy Kilpatrick, 93, of 1330 India Hook Road, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Reverend Jamie Burdette officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Aiken Memorial Gardens.
John was a native of Lacon, AL and the son of the late Lelton F. and Beulah Elizabeth Junkins Kilpatrick and the widow of Connie Hyde Kilpatrick. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Merchant Marines, having served in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans during World War II. He worked at the Savannah River Nuclear Plant as a mathematician in nuclear physics and later retired from Dupont in 1990 where he worked in their computer division.
Surviving are his son, Dr. John Michael Kilpatrick and wife, Kathleen, of Redmond, Oregon; his daughter, Katherine K. Hyatt and husband, Don, of Rock Hill; his brother, Dr. Troy Kilpatrick, of Pinson, AL; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brother, Marion Kilpatrick and his sister, Elizabeth Kilpatrick.
