John Head Obituary

John Claude Head
WARRENVILLE - John "Claude" Head, 90, of Warrenville, SC, beloved husband of Barbara Head for 68 years, entered into rest with his Lord and late son, Claude "Keith" Head after an extended illness on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
He was born in Scaly Mountain, NC to the late John "Dellon" and Annie Head. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korea Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, UN service medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge National Defense Service Medal. After his military service he became an electrician, building contractor and retired with the Aiken County Sheriff's Department as a police officer/constable. He was a member of American Legion Post 153 for more than 25 years, where he served in numerous positions to include Commander of the Post for 2 years. He was a member and frequently attended Warrenville Revival Center in Warrenville, SC.
He loved his family and many friends and made it a point to joke and have fun with them. Prior to kidney dialysis, he enjoyed camping with friends in Unicoi Springs, trout fishing, singing, music, playing the guitar, and eating good food (especially cornbread!).
In addition to his parents and beloved son, Keith, he is preceded in death by a sister Edith Wilson, and 3 brothers; Clyde Head, Gene Head and Ray Head. Family members include son Timothy Head (Cindy), brother Ellis Head (Gail), step-grandsons R. Wesley Brown (Ashley), Kenneth Brown, great-grandchildren Madison Brown, Trista Brown, Kenli Brown, Easton Brown, Blakely Brown and many special nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the wonderful and loving staff at Hitchcock Senior Living Facility, Warrenville Revival church family, Veteran's Administration Hospice care staff, Fresenius Kidney Care Aiken staff, Unicoi Spring friends, Mack and June Hartley, nieces and nephews, and many friends that provided comfort, support, and laughs throughout the difficult journey.
Pallbearers are Brian Bleckley, Kenneth Brown, Wesley Brown, Joe Burg, Bill Hamilton, Russ Head, Kirk Kinson, Vernon Snipes and Chris Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers are members of American Legion Post 153 and Mack Hartley.
A Funeral Service, celebrating his life, will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday November 1, 2022 at the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Widener and Rev. Philip Napier to officiate. The burial will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Warrenville Revival Center Building Fund in Warrenville, SC.
Napier Funeral Home, Inc. 315 Main St. Graniteville, SC 29829, has been entrusted with these arrangements.
