Joanne Silverstein Obituary

Joanne E (Barnard) Silverstein, born in Elmira, NY at St Joseph Hospital on September 20, 1942, has peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald A Silverstein, of Aiken, SC. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Mary K Barnard, of Elmira, NY. Her surviving children include Mary Anna Yram of Ajijic, Mexico, Katherine Vacca, Stuttgart, Germany, Jennifer Silverstein and her husband, Bill Pentleton, of Quincy, MA, and Linda Martens, of Aiken, SC. There are six Grandchildren, and two Great Grandchildren, living scattered about the globe. Joanne loved traveling and was fortunate to have traveled extensively after retirement. Her career as a banker stretched from Boston, MA, to Melbourne, FL, extending over 25 years, and was a career she loved. She moved with her husband from Melbourne to Aiken, SC 20 year ago and fell in love with the Aiken area. She filled her time by volunteering at Aiken Regional Memorial Hospital and spending time with family and friends. She was a parishioner at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass for Joanne will be held at St Mary's Help of Christian Church, 125 Park Ave SW Aiken, SC, 29801 on Friday August 9, 2024, at 11:00am with the Very Rev. Richard Wilson as celebrant. Final Rites and Commendations will be at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic, FL. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, August 8, 2024, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234. Joanne was truly loved and will be missed forever by those who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the staff of MSA Hospice for your care and compassion has been a true blessing.
