Jimmy Huskey Obituary
Jimmy was a 1977 graduate of Crest High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player. He attended Longwood College in Va. and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for three years. His employment included working for the City of Shelby Parks and Recreation Department as a Job Center Supervisor at Holly Oak Park.
Jimmy was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, where he joined at an early age. Over his years as a member, he sang in the choir, ushered and was a former coach of the basketball league. In addition to his love for basketball, Jimmy enjoyed gardening and helped to plant a community garden at Holly Park for the residents there.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four sons, Jacques Ross (Dashunta) of Atlanta, Ga., Casey Ross (Desiree), Blake Huskey and Jordan Huskey, all of Kings Mountain; one step-son, Quincy Ross of Lawndale; one sister, Dorothy Huskey of Shelby; two brothers, Silas Huskey, Jr. of Shelby and Bobby Huskey (Angie) of Charlotte; six grandchildren; nine aunts, Betty Huskey, Audrey Archie and Geraldine Young, all of Shelby, Fannie Watkins and Beulah Young both of Rockingham, Bessie Black of Thomasville, Christer Barnes and Katie Smith, both of Washington, D.C., Rita Smith of Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church, and at other times at his residence, 1505 Normandy Drive, Apt. D in Shelby.
Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Shoal Creek Baptist Church
Officiated by: Pastor Michael Isaac
Burial: Will take place at the church cemetery.
Funeral home: Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

What an awesome service today at Shoal Creek Church today.He was such a fierce competitor on the basketball court but had one of the kindest hearts I've ever known.What a privilege it was to have been a teammate of his at Crest.A very unselfish teammate.And a big ole smile.I'll cherish the memories forever.
