Jerome Smith Obituary

With profound sadness, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Jerome Marquez Smith, left us far too soon on August 11, 2025, at the age of 34. Born on October 30, 1990, in Aiken, South Carolina, to Serena (Maurice) Smith and Ronnie (Ann) Highley, Jerome filled the lives of those around him with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments Jerome was a man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively gathering surrounded by those he loved, he was happiest when the people he cared for were together. His smile could light up a room, and his presence brought comfort and warmth to anyone blessed to know him. He was a devoted husband to Gabrielle Smith and a proud, loving father to Brooklyn Smith, Kash Smith, Eva Smith, Khalil Johnson, and Phillip Johnson III. To his children, Jerome was more than a parent, he was a hero, a role model, and their biggest supporter. His love for them was boundless and unwavering. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Smith, who now welcomes him with open arms. Jerome will be deeply missed by his grandparents, Alzeina Smith, Frank and Geneva Highley; and his siblings, Shalysa Whitt, Jasmine Whitt, Shaquanda Highley, Janiqua Highley, and Jackai Masters; Mother-in-law Yvonne Priester; sister-in-laws Tierra (Ja-Quavis) Clyburn, Caresse Priester, Brianna Priester; Brother-in-law Dorian (Jasmin) Priester; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Jerome's love, laughter, and spirit will live on through the countless memories we share. His legacy is one of devotion, kindness, and the reminder to cherish every moment with the ones we love.
