Jeffrey David Harting
Beech Island - JEFFREY DAVID HARTING, 47, beloved husband of Mendi (Epperhart) Harting, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 8, 2021 at his residence.
A native of Muncie, IN, Jeff was the son of Louise (Clark) Harting and the late David Leon Harting. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in Gaston, IN. He received his undergraduate degree from Ball State University, a master's degree from Phoenix University in Special Education and a master's degree from the University of South Carolina in Administration. Jeff began his career in education at Whiteford High School in Michigan. He then taught and coached basketball at Bedford High School in Temperance, MI. Jeff and his family then moved to Aiken, SC in 2011 where he went to work for the Aiken County School District. He taught special education at Kennedy Middle School in Aiken and then worked in the district office for a year. He then became Assistant Principal at North Augusta Middle School until returning to Kennedy Middle School in 2016.
From a young age, Jeff was a fan of all things sports. He enjoyed and excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. He "says" he ran track. (We really don't believe him). After he married the love of his life, Mendi, he instilled that love of sports into his children. He was their coach, confidant, and BIGGEST fan. Jeff had a faith in Christ that led him and his family to several churches over the years. His faith is also what led him and his family to Aiken. He was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he was active in several ministries. Jeff's passion for life was shown in his love of work, his work friends, his students, his church friends, neighbors, and strangers in the grocery store. His laugh was infectious and his presence will be missed.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Mendi, include three children, Paige, Jackson and Josie Harting; his mother, Louise Harting, Muncie, IN; sisters, Tisha Stone (Todd), Muncie, IN, Stephanie Stout (Ron), Muncie, IN; mother-in-law, Debbie Epperhart, Kokomo, IN; brother-in-law, Kent Epperhart (Jennifer), Walton, IN; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his father, Jeff was preceded in death by his father-in-law, David Epperhart.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, August 13th from 4 until 8 o'clock at Millbrook Baptist Church.
The family will also receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 o'clock at the church followed by the Funeral Service at 11 o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be mailed to Security Federal Bank, 2587 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803. Please make checks out to Harting Children's Education Fund. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
