AIKEN - Jeanette Barton 77 of Aiken, SC wife of Rev. Davis Barton passed peacefully into Heaven on February 24, 2024 surrounded at home by her loving family. Born in Aiken, Jeanette graduated from Aiken High School and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Jeanette was the office manager for twenty-five years until his retirement for Dr. James R. Barham MD. Following his retirement, she continued in the medical field with SCDHEC where she served as lead admin for the Children's Resource Services until they relocated to Lexington, SC.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Odessa Smith of Gloverville, SC. One brother Lamar Smith of Gloverville, SC, sister Cozette Robison (S.J.)of Swainsboro, Ga. sister Joanne Conaway(Rufus) of Clearwater, SC and an infant brother Jerry Dale. Her foster mother Delphine Johnson of Aiken SC. Stepsister Sherry Johnson (Lonnie) of Aiken, SC.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Rev. Davis Barton, Daughter, Lisa Valentine of North Augusta, Son, Davey Barton of Aiken. Sister Ellen Littleton of Dacula Ga and a Brother, Dwight Smith (Susan) of Warrenville, SC. Grandson Brian Valentine (Sarah) of Windsor, Va. Granddaughter Erica Barton of Aiken, SC. Granddaughter Katherine Ventura (Cameron) of Taylors, SC. Grandson Caleb Barton of Aiken, SC. Grandson Joshua Barton (Lexi) of Aiken, SC. Jonathon Barton (Hailey) of Edgefield, SC. Granddaughter Carly Barton (Trent) of Edgefield, SC.
Great Grands Cece Ventura, Abram Ventura, Kate Ventura, Paxton Cockrell, Bryson Cockrell, Andrew Barton, and Wesley Barton. Sister-in-laws Ann Hannan of Albuquerque, NM and Sarah Barton of Aiken, SC. And a host of much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jeanette loved her annual trips to Hilton Head Island with her children and grandchildren who were her heart and her annual sister's trips. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her family with all her heart.
Her favorite pastimes were anything at the beach, reading by the pool, walks on the beach with family at night, and singing praises to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Her legacy is written in the hearts of those she loved.
The funeral service will be held at Shellhouse Funeral Home on Hayne Ave. on February 28th at 2:00 pm. Family visitation beginning at 1:00 with interment following at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken. Reverend Phillip Hamilton officiating.
