Jean Smith Bearden
ABBEVILLE, AL - Jean Smith Bearden, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in the Union Free Will Baptist Church, near Abbeville, with a son-in-law, Troy Murphy and Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Charlene Kemper, in Dothan. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bearden was born in Thomasville, Georgia and was reared in Henry County, daughter of the late William Howard Smith and Flossie Mae Williams Smith. She lived in various locations while she supported her husband's military career and returned to Abbeville in 1992. Mrs. Bearden was a member of the Union Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bearden, two sons, Cliff Bearden and Ronnie Money, a step-son, Ralph Bearden, and a sister, Martha Smith Craft.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Terri Jean Morgan (Guy), Cottonwood; Charlene Kemper (Ed), Dothan; and Carrie "Baby Girl" Murphy (Troy), Aiken, SC; a son, William Casey Bearden, Sr., (Renee), Abbeville; a daughter-in-law, Linda Money Mease, Edwin Community; her step-mother, Flora Smith, Cordele, GA; three sisters, Ann Barnes (James Lawrence), Abbeville; Janice Smith, Abbeville; and Gabby Cannon (Phil), Vienna, GA; a brother, William Howard Smith (Stacy), Vienna, GA; twelve grandchildren, Clint Money (Jodi), Brian Money (Stephanie), Caleb Kemper, Calah Edstrom (Tyler), Ashley Bearden, Ashley Lynn McDonald (Jeff), William Casey Bearden, Jr. (Ashley), Jacob Murphy (Taylor), Jessica Murphy (Joe), Samantha Morgan, Nicole Robinson (Adam), and Melissa Downing (Kris); twelve great-grandchildren and baby Murphy on the way, and two great-great-grandchildren.
