I first met Jim when we were in the same class at Emory U. School of Law. We became friends and were in the same small study group. Years later, Jim and I resumed our friendship as we chatted a few times a week while exercising on stationary bicycles seated beside each other at the Buckhead Y. That´s a long time to be friends, 55 years.
I knew Jim as a man of kindness, integrity and intelligence. When I, as only one of three women in our Emory Law School class, Jim sensed how isolated I felt back then in the year 1966. He introduced himself and said the words I needed to hear that made me feel welcome and accepted. That typifies Jim Gingrey.
I will always miss him. Interestingly, Jim and I were born on the same day.
Rest in peace, sweet Jim.

Just saw Jim´s obituary. Jim and I were friends for a very long time, part of a study group at Emory Law School. Then for the last several years we worked out at the Buckhead Y. All I ever saw was a fine Southern gentleman. I already miss him. I know Jim is in Heaven.
