James Gibbons Obituary
MAULDIN - Mr. James Richard "Dick" Gibbons, 71, of Mauldin, SC, entered into rest on Friday, April 14, 2023, in the comfort of his home.
Born in Charleston County, SC, he was a son of the late James Roy and Gladys Benton Gibbons. He was a graduate of Aiken High School and was a former General Contractor. Dick was a very proud Republican and was known for his kind heart and giving spirit. He enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing, writing books and being outdoors. More than anything, however, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren, Andrew Deck, Todd Deck, Owen Browning, Dylan Browning, Carley Browning, Jackson Davis, Katie Rhyan Davis, Hunter Davis, Abi Addis and Brooks Addis.
In addition to his parents and grandchildren, family members include his children and their spouses, Richie and Candy Gibbons, Chrissie and Brad Browning, Katherine and Jason Davis and Lindsay and Brian Addis, siblings and their spouses, Jackie and Sam Wilkinson, David and Adena Gibbons, Pat and Teresa Gibbons, Ken and Amy Gibbons and the late Artie Gibbons and his wife, Kay.
The family greeted friends Thursday, April 20, 2023, beginning at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service followed at noon in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Guv Gottshalk officiated. Richie Gibbons told Dick's story. (be ready to cover your ears!) Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers were Owen Browning, Dylan Browning, Jackson Davis, Hunter Davis, Brooks Addis, Andrew Deck and Todd Deck.

Not having been close to Dickie as I remember him, I was friends of Jackie and Artie when living in my neighborhood and later working with Jackie and Sam. I would like to express my sincere condolences and prayers for them and the entire family members. May they feel the comfort of the Lord Jesus Christ during this difficult time.
