Copeland, Jr.
JACKSON, SC - Funeral Services for Mr. James R. Copeland, Jr., 86, formerly of 5th Street, who entered into rest March 11, 2014, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Rev. Marion Britton officiating. Interment in Jackson Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Copeland was a native of Cullman, Alabama, having made Jackson his home for the past 62 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson where he served as a deacon and a member of the Barracca Sunday School Class. Mr. Copeland retired as a supervisor with E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and leading others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Dean Copeland; his parents, James R. Copeland. Sr., and Lelia Elouise Copeland; one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Janice Golden (Jim), Goldridge, AL; Jamie Copeland, Lexington, SC; Karen Kight (James), Jackson, SC; Kim Berendsen (finance, Douglas Huckeba); two brothers, Clifford E. Copeland, Guntersville, AL; Donald W. Copeland, Huntsville, AL; and six grandchildren,Dusty Golden, Jennifer Jolly, Shanna Fees, Christine Troupe, Bethany Berendsen and Colby Kight ; 7 great-grandchildren.
Active Pallbearers will be Michael Matlock, Melvin Weathersbee, David Hooks, Gary Thornton, Clark Johnson and John Reeder. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barracca Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
