James Congdon Obituary
"Jim" Congdon
AIKEN, SC - James William "Jim" Congdon, 63, beloved husband of Susan Earl Congdon, died suddenly Wednesday, February 4, 2015.
A native of Endicott, NY, Jim was a son of Minnie Remelius Congdon and the late Francis I. Congdon. He was a graduate of Alfred University in Alfred, NY with a PhD in Ceramic Science. Jim had lived in Aiken since 1977 and was a retired research scientist with the Savannah River National Laboratory. He loved retirement and spending time golfing, hunting, traveling and enjoying his grandchildren. He was a member of Palmetto Golf Club and Peeples Deer Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Susan, include a son, Robert William "Bobby"
Congdon (Shelly), Seneca, SC; a daughter, Karen Marie
Gregory (Matthew), Lexington, SC; three grandchildren, Logan Robert Gregory, Blake William Gregory and Cara Suzanne Congdon; his mother Minnie Congdon, Holly Hill, FL and a sister, Carol Benedict, Flagler Beach, FL.
A prayer vigil will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home followed by visitation until 6 o'clock.
The Funeral Mass will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Old St. Mary Help of Christians Church on Park Avenue with The Reverend
Gregory Wilson as celebrant.

What an enormous loss. Mr. Congdon was a remarkable, interesting and capable man. I enjoyed meeting him at Bobby and Shelly's wedding and other family events. My deepest regrets.
