James Brunson Obituary

Mr. James "Dooley" Brunson, 63, was born May 30, 1962 in Lexington, South Carolina to the late Annie Lee Brunson Dozier and James Foulks. He departed this life early on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, South Carolina. Affectionately known as "Dooley", he graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School. He was also known as a Las Vegas Raiders football fan. Dooley was also a sharp dresser, especially his cowboy boots. He was employed by Amick Farms as Supervisor of Sanitation for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Ada Quattlebaum Brunson; a sister, Annie B. Griffin and a brother, Larry Brunson. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: two sons, Abotua (Lashundra) Quansah and Jabarius Nykey Brunson; one daughter, Jariah Shiante Brunson; one sister, Janie Fuller of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; special sisters, Barbara "BJ" (Jacob) Williams of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Ida (Martin) Monticillo of Monetta, South Carolina; one brother, Keith Murphy of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Leon "Frog" Griffin and Tommy Quattlebaum, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two aunts, Gertrude Brunson and Willette Foulks, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two uncles, Willie (Thomasena) Brunson of Monetta, South Carolina and Sampson Brunson of Lexington, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Mahogany, Abotua Jr., Amir, Amina, Ava, Ariel, Ashanti, Asaiah and Ashundra; four nieces, Deloris, Lasheta, Jefeeka and Chaka; two nephews, Jermaine (Carol) Brunson and Cecil (Latoya) Brunson; a special cousin, Diane Brunson; special friends, Jacob "Book" Williams, Freddie Barr, Joseph Leaphart, Marvin Lytes and his Amick Farms family; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
