Funeral Service for Mr. James Allen Bradford, 83, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Pastor Paula Ward and Dr. Melvin Erwin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home. James Allen Bradford, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 83 in Alexander City, AL. Born on August 31, 1941, in Tallapoosa County, AL, James lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, work, and community. Known for his handy and loving nature, James was a man of faith who found joy in the simple things. He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Promised Land Family Worship Center. Over the years, he contributed significantly to the church, assisting with the food bank, maintaining the grounds, and playing a vital role in the development of the new church building. His commitment to his faith was evident in his actions and the way he led his life. James spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver, a job that he performed with pride and excellence. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community as the caretaker of the Fox Family Farm in Hackneyville. His work ethic and willingness to lend a hand were unmatched, and he was always ready to help others in any way he could. An outdoors enthusiast, James loved to be outside, whether it was cutting grass around Alexander City or working on automobiles and lawn mowers. His expertise and helpful nature made him a mentor and spiritual leader not only to his family but also to many others who were fortunate to know him. His interests extended to the joys of family life and simple pleasures. Alongside his beloved wife JoAnn, James relished in taking picnics at the city boat ramp, watching the boats come in as the day wound down. This shared moment of tranquility was among the many ways he cherished his time with loved ones. James leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Ray Bradford; daughters, Natalie (Robin) Stewart and Wendy (Mike) Ware; step-children, Donna Hill, Lee Sims, Tony (Carol) Sims, and Charlotte Sims; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Wilma Watts; and his brothers, Jimmie (Pat) Bradford, Raymond (Mildred) Bradford, and Jack Bradford. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth. Preceding him in death were his father, Herman C. Bradford; mother, Gertrude Bradford; son, Tracey Allen Bradford; sister, Mary Sybil Parrot; and daughter, Margaret Louise Bradford. James Allen Bradford was the embodiment of a faith-filled life, marked by his loving and handy nature. The impact of his presence was profound, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. His memory will live on as a testament to a life well-lived, full of love, service, and the simple joys that make life truly rich.
