Jacob O'Conner
ST. ALBANS, NY - Jacob O'Conner (affectionately known as Jake), age 82, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Jake was born on October 13, 1932 in Aiken, South Carolina. He was the second oldest of eight children. His loving parents were Luther and Pearl O'Conner.
Jake received his formal education at Schofield H.S. He married Alice (known as Ruth) Mason in 1957. Jake and Alice Ruth started a family together in New York City, where they had four children in the following order, Jake's daughter Karen Bland, Jacob O'Conner Jr. (deceased), Mark Anthony O'Conner, (deceased) and Lory A. O'Conner Hurst.
Jake was a devoted family man who was always present and an active husband and father. He was employed at Temple Sinai of Roslyn, NY for 42 years of service as a custodial engineer. He grew up in the Evening Light Church of God in Graniteville SC. He continued his fellowship as an adult with his family at First Church of God in Jamaica, New York.
He will be mourned by, his wife Alice O'Conner, his daughters Karen Bland and Lory Ann O'Conner Hurst (Richard). His brothers and sister-in laws: Sweeny O'Conner, Bill O'Conner (Luretha), Herbert O'Conner (Marine). His sisters: Kathy Hunt,
Chenetta Hagin, Diane Jones, and Addie Ross. Grandchildren: Janee, Justin, Jordan, Ryan, Dominique, Kentrel, and Kiara. Great-grandson Jamear. He also leaves to mourn many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and family members whose names are not listed but are loved all the same.
Funeral services were held at First Church of God, 110-10 167th Street, Jamaica, New York 11433 on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 - 7:30p.m.
