Horace Lee Obituary

Horace Eugene "Buster" Lee, 95, passed away on March 19, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Buster was born on March 23, 1918 in Greensburg to George and Daisy Morgan Lee. He attended school at Oakland School. He is a lifelong resident of the Red Bluff Community. He married Juanita Perryman in 1939. Buster spent most of his adult life serving his community through his work and public service. He and his family owned and operated their dairy farm for 60 years. He also served St. Helena Parish as Police juror and school board member for St. Helena Schools. He was a member of Center and Day's United Methodist Church. Psalm 127:3 says, "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him." Buster leaves quite a legacy, having received a plentiful blessing from the Lord in his numerous descendants. Buster's traits of integrity, discipline, hard work, and courtesy will live on in the lives of his family. He is survived by 3 sons, George Eddie Lee and wife, Alice Faye, Greensburg, Bennie Ray Lee and wife, Margaret, Greensburg and Perry Eugene Lee and wife, Janella, Mendenhall, MS; daughter, Carolyn Ann Lee Busby and husband, Lewis Alan, Greensburg; 11 grandchildren, Angela Lee Shockley and husband, Don, Lisa Lee Piner and husband, Brian, Kirk Lee, Todd Lee and wife, Rhonda, Eric Lee and wife, Missy, Carmen Lee Varnado and husband, Jimmy, Paige Busby Fortenberry, Nicole Busby and husband, Andrew, Lee Busby, Amanda Lee Broadhead and husband, Bill and Lenora Lee Grayson and husband, Chad; 27 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren and sister, Rena Lee Day. Preceded in death by wife, Juanita Perryman Lee; parents, George and Daisy Lee and brother, Percy Lee. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and at Day's United Methodist Church, Greensburg, from 9 a.m. until Religious Services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Mr. Buster was one of the nicest men I have ever known. Fifty years ago he was my school bus driver and drove that old Chevy with a gentle touch. Much the same way he treated its passengers. He exuded respect and dignity. A great man has passed. My condolence to his family.

I just loved Mr. Buster. He was the sweeties man. Every time I would talk to him on the phone, it was always as if he had a smile on his face and no matter who you were, he enjoyed talking to you. Oh, what a grand fellow was Mr. Buster, he lived a full and complete life. I really enjoyed the talks we had when he was school board member. He will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
