HESTER BALL Obituary

BALL, HESTER RILEY - 93 years old, and the last living charter member of Riley Memorial Baptist Church, passed away on June 13th, 2014, at Claiborne Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Tom Ball; brother, Clyde Riley; father, Smith Riley; and mother, Gracie Riley. Hester and Tom were joint operators of Ball Supermarket in New Tazewell, and after that Ball Hardware in Tazewell, and these two businesses have spanned more than 60 years. Hester loved cooking, quilting, sewing, traveling, gardening, and crocheting. She is survived by son, Roger Ball; and daughter, Karen Watson, both of Tazewell. Hester also leaves behind granddaughters, Tara L. Watson and husband Ben Young of Hendersonville, TN, Denise Matson and husband Ken Matson of Seattle, WA, and Teresa Ball and husband Fabian Preza of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; grandsons, Chad Watson and wife Becky Finley of The Woodlands, TX, and Andrew Watson of Knoxville, TN; great grandchildren Adrien, Isabella, and Ellanorah Watson. Visitation to be held at Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home, Monday, June 16th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Gary Fletcher. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Fairview Cemetery.
