Herbert Wheeler Obituary
AIKEN, SC - The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Herbert E. Wheeler, age 80, of 1398 Congress Drive, widower of Louise A. Holloway-Wheeler will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Art Dalupang, officiating. Burial will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Herbert attended Martha Schofield High before enlisting in the US Army where he dutifully served his country in Korea and Vietnam. Upon retiring from his distinguished 20 yr military career. He returned to college an obtained a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina-Aiken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Albert Richard Wheeler, Tommy E. Wheeler, Willie Albert Wheeler, and Charles Enoch Wheeler.
Survivors include: his daughters, Anna Maria Wheeler, Regina Antoinette Wheeler, and Anita Bernadette Wheeler-Franklin; son-in-law, Harold Bernard Franklin; sisters, Annie Pearl (Simon) Moody, Willie Alma Darns, and Constance Taylor; brothers, Robert Lawrence Wheeler, Clarence Bernard (Marie) Wheeler, and SGM Ed Lewis Harley, II; grandchildren, Malia I Wheeler, Jaquavia N. Wheeler, and Nico Wheeler; one great-granddaughter, Lyric Hart; Godson, Carlos Shaw; a host of other relatives.
The family will greet their friends Tuesday from 7-8 pm at the funeral home.
Friends may call the residence or JACKSON-BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 126 Fairfield St., SE, Aiken @803 649 6123 beginning 3 PM Tuesday.
