HERBERT PETREY Obituary

PETREY, HERBERT - age 83, of Rutledge, passed away April 10, 2014 at his residence. He was a member of Central Point Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman, and had a passion for cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lula Petrey; daughter, Sheila; two granddaughters, Megan and Nicole; and sister, Ruby Ottinger. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hodge Petrey; daughter, Sandra Dickerson; son, Michael Petrey both of Knoxville; three stepchildren, Pam (Hugh) Carneal, Chrystal (Tim) Robinson, and Randy (Sue) Hodge all of Rutledge; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Fred) Trentham of Newport, Tiney Brewer of Tazewell, and Carrie Birchfield of Oliver Springs; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Smokey Mountain Hospice. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge with Rev. Mark Kitts, Rev. Mike Sledge, and Rev. Hollis Dunsmore officiating. Friends and family will gather 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Central Point Baptist Church Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening prior to services at the funeral home.
