Helen Eller Obituary

Helen Eller
Charlotte, NC - It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Helen (Garrett) Eller of Jackson, South Carolina announces her passing on September 4th, 2022.
Born on May 8th, 1931 in Unaka, North Carolina near Murphy, Helen (as most knew her) passed away at age 91 after a long and fruitful life while graciously and courageously suffering major health issues in her later years. She will be remembered by her friends and family as one of the most kind, compassionate, loyal and faithful Christian servants they have ever known.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Goldman; her mother and father Martha Lou (Polly) and William (Posey) Garrett and a sister Willa Belle (Topsy) Garrett Pope.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Eller Snyder (Charles); her son, Mike Edward Eller; her grandsons, Nathan Edward Snyder (Kendall); and Michael Garrett Eller (Kayla). Also surviving are her six great-grandchildren: Divine Snyder, Claire Snyder, Camdyn Snyder, Charles Snyder, Carrie Snyder, and Colton Eller. Also surviving is her younger sister Bonell Garrett Gulley.
Helen and Goldman married August 25th, 1949 and moved to Jackson, South Carolina shortly thereafter. In addition to rearing her two children, Helen focused intently on creating a "Leave It to Beaver" lifestyle for her entire family and surrounding neighbors. Later she began working with the late Irene Good (Bill) at the Jackson Beauty Shop, the premier local salon in Jackson for more than 30 years. Since Irene and Helen handled most of Jackson school teacher's grooming needs, it was commonly known that the local school children never had a chance to successfully carry out their shenanigans because any suspected mischievous activities were immediately leaked to Jackson's "local area network" resulting in the proper authorities being promptly notified. Thus, many dastardly deeds were prevented from ever coming to fruition.
Helen was a fabulous gardener. She and Goldman perpetually produced world-class crops which were always shared with family and friends. She also never met a flower she didn't love. Many of them were given special names and it was rumored that Helen even had private discussions with some of her flowers.
Helen was a devoted and committed Christian and a longstanding member of South Aiken Church of God (now Mercy Church).
All who knew and loved Helen will miss her warm spirit, positive attitude through thick and thin, and loving heart.
The family wishes to sincerely acknowledge Rosetta Young who provided outstanding comfort and care for the last nine years until Helen's passing. In addition, Hospice & Palliative Care - Charlotte Region recently stepped in as a member of Helen's daily care team providing vital support in Helen's last days.
Private funeral services will be held at Mercy Church, 2700 Whiskey Road, Aiken South Carolina on September 14th followed by a public graveside service at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, South Carolina at 12:30 p.m. with Pastors Bruce Fox (retired) and Kenny Murphy officiating.
There will be no open visitation.
Pallbearers are Mike Eller, Michael Eller, Charles Snyder, Nathan Snyder, Jimmy Bramlett, and Charles E. Snyder.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Mercy Church, Aiken S.C. or the Church of God Home for Children, Mauldin S.C.
