AIKEN, SC - Helen, 67, known to her friends by her Greek name Eleni, passed away to Eternity last January 2, 2014 after eight months of treatment for melanoma at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Her body was shipped to Greece for Funeral Services at the Metropolis in Chania, Crete. She was interred near her mother in Akrotiri, Crete.
Helen was always social and outgoing, ready to meet people, charm them and befriend them. She was always full of life, leaving everybody with a smile and a warm feeling. In Houston she quickly developed a large support group to help with all medical and survival needs. She was a fighter to the end, determined to beat the disease. Yet even when the end was inevitable she still had a kind word to say to the nurse wheeling her bed to the palliative unit.
Helen's passion in life was writing, particularly about the oppressed and under-privileged. She published a number of articles and authored in Greek "The Blind Actor - O Tyflos Theatrinos" about the suffering in Iran under the Shah's dictatorship (http://douridasliterature.com/katsoulaki.html).
A memorial service for Helen will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 10:30 am at Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church, 2880 Highway 138 NE, Conyers, GA.

Helen is survived by her husband Lee Dworjanyn in Aiken, SC, her son Kostantinos Katsoulelos, and her sisters Eva Rallis in Athens, Greece. Condolences can be sent to [email protected].
