Harley Drew Obituary

Mr. Harley Robert Drew, Jr., 82, entered into rest October 23, 2025. A private graveside memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Harley was born July 23, 1943, to the late Harley Robert Drew, Sr. and Jewell Herrington Drew. A native of Waynesboro, GA, he graduated from Waynesboro High School. Harley was a resident of North Augusta for most of his adult life prior to his move in recent years to Pooler, GA to be closer to family. Harley was a well-known radio personality for over 50 years in the Augusta community. He began his career in 1962 with WFNL Radio in Waynesboro. Harley worked with WBBQ for 25 years, ultimately becoming their Program Director. His career allowed him to serve as National Program Director with Arrow Communications Group for six years. Harley concluded his career with Beasley Broadcast Group and WGAC, retiring in 2017. He received the distinguished honor and induction into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Although his greatest passion was radio, Mr. Drew was a veracious reader, exploring a variety of genres and even became interested in learning about astronomy. He also loved photography, describing himself as a "photography enthusiast." Harley was known for his love for computer technology and was exceedingly tech-savvy. All in all, Harley always wanted to learn something new and grow his mind. In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his first late wife, Terry Johnson Drew and his second late wife, Carol Drew. Surviving family left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kim Barnard (Bernie) of Pooler, GA; his siblings; David Drew of Charleston, SC, and Vicki Mitchell of Millen, GA; two grandchildren; Brandon Barnard and Ben Barnard; two stepchildren; Melissa Huggins and Craig Black.
