AIKEN - CLARENCE GLENWOOD "GLENN" PIERCY, 95, beloved husband of Jeanette Mc Cormack Piercy, passed away Wednesday evening, November 9, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Asheville, NC, Glenn was a son of the late Robert Donald and Dollie Garland Piercy. He was veteran of the U. S. Navy in World War II. He then served in the Army Reserves, retiring in 1987 as Chief Warrant Officer. Glenn moved to Aiken in 1954 to work for Dupont at the Savannah River Site. He retired in 1981 as Captain in the Patrol Division. He was an award-winning marksman, winning the DOE National Championship in 1973. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a longtime member of Millbrook Baptist Church, attending since 1959. He was a member of the Millbrook Whittlers, the National Association of Uniform Services, SC Law Enforcement Association, American Legion and the NRA. Glen loved fishing and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 70 years, Jeanette, include two sons, Robert Dale Piercy (Brenda), Fletcher, NC, Jimmy Piercy (Shanda), Aiken; three grandchildren, Katelin Byars, Greenville, Austin Piercy, Charleston, Sarah Grace Salter (Luke), Charleston; his sister, Donna Cabe, Atlanta, GA; niece, Deanna Park, Atlanta; nephews, Chuck Piercy, Charleston, Olin Boatwright (Pam), North Augusta.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, November 12th beginning at 1 o'clock at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 o'clock with The Revs. Marion Britton and Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Millbrook Baptist Church's Building Fund, 223 South Aiken Blvd., Aiken, SC 29803 (www.millbrook.cc).
