Gerald Patrick Long
AIKEN, SC - Gerald Patrick Long, 81, beloved husband of Arlene Serakas Long, died Sunday evening, March 20, 2016 at his residence.
A native of Shenandoah, PA, Gerald was a son of the late Matthew and Mary Agnes Ryan Long. He lived in Aiken since 1989 and retired as a welding engineer with Bechtel at the Savannah River Site. He attended South Aiken Church of God. Gerald loved taking his daily walks while praying.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are his four children, Barbara Vasques (Daniel), Huntsville, AL, Jason Long (Bonnie Layton), Chapin, SC, Kelly Russell (Preston), Augusta, GA, 1LT Patrick Long, USAF (Bonnie Lea) Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Sam and Emily Vasques, Zachary and Nicholas Long; five step-grandchildren, Chuck and James Deese, Jessica Russell, Amber Hopkins, Mitchell Russell; a brother, Matthew Long, Frederick, MD.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held in Shenandoah Heights, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Hospice, 690 Medical Park Drive, Ste 400, Aiken, SC 29801.
