George Scott Obituary
AIKEN, SC - Mr. George W. Scott, Sr., age 93, of 815 Harold Lane passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Azalea Woods Rehab & Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Oakwood Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Guyton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a retiree of Owens Corning Fiberglass in Aiken, SC and served as Chairman of the Oakwood Deacon Board for twenty-five years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Furman and Ada Johnson, Scott, Sr., his loving wife, Binner Mae Scott, his son, George (Willie George) Scott, Jr., four sisters Irene Smoaks, Dora Bell Myrick, Beatrice Lomax, Willie Mae "Etta" Goodwin, and brother, Jimmie Scott.
George leaves to cherish his memory: four grandchildren- Douglas E. (Geraldine) Scott, Tina S. Brown, Deshawn Scott Sr. all of Aiken, SC; and Shawna (Michael) Morant of Charlotte, NC. Eight great-grandchildren- Tiffany Neal of Virginia Beach, VA; Michael and Jordan Brown of Aiken, SC; Shawntea' and Deshawn Scott of Hollis, NY; Teshana Davis of Jamaica, NY; Shawona Breeland of Aiken, SC; and Phoebe and London Morant of Charlotte, NC. One sister- Lorine (William) Bryant, and two brothers- Furman Scott, Jr and Mackey Scott all of Aiken, SC; Two daughters-in-law, Omedia Bing Scott, New Ellenton, SC and Tilda Loretta Scott, Aiken, SC; Devoted cousins, Sarah Winfield, Alberta Roberson and Albert Roberson, Jr.; five step-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other sorrowing relatives and friends.
