George W. Parks, Jr. (RPh-Retired)
North Augusta - Funeral Services for Mr. George W. Parks, Jr., 91, of North Augusta, who entered into rest November 17, 2018, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Dr. Randy Cooper and Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Parks was a native of Cornelia, Georgia, having made North Augusta his home for the past 70 years. He was a graduate of Cornelia High School and a 1948 graduate of the University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy. Mr. Parks founded and operated Parks Pharmacy, retiring after serving the community for over 27 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta where he served as the chair of the board of deacons several times, church treasurer for 13 years, chairman of the finance committee, chairman of the pastor-search committee and the director of an adult Sunday school department. He was active in the North Augusta community, serving in various civic organizations to include, the Jaycees, Exchange Club, Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma Club, the United Fund Drive for North Augusta and the North Augusta Planning Commission. Mr. Parks humbly received many recognitions for his service to the community, some of which include the C.S.R.A. Business Hall of Fame, North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame, Sertoma Club "Service to Mankind" Award, Chamber of Commerce "Citizen of the Year" Award and the A.H. Robins Co. "Bowl of Hygeia" Award for outstanding community service by the S.C. Board of Pharmacy. He was the father of the late Brad Parks and son of the late George W. Parks, Sr. and Annie Dora Bradbury Parks.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Tracy Parks, North Augusta and Richard and Judy Parks, Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Jeanine Wilson, Jennifer Stripling, Carrie Owens, Kalen Parks, Claire Parks and Ben Schneider; three great-grandchildren, Brad Wilson, Kayla Stripling and Samuel Parks.
Pallbearers will be Steve McElmurry, Jason Stripling, Brad Wilson, Daniel Owens, Al Arnett and Ben Schneider.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 until 7.
The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living and Regency Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
