Gene N. Daniels
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Funeral Services for Mr. Gene N. Daniels, 89, of North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest February 14, 2017, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Dr. Gary C. Redding and Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment in Peace Haven Baptist Church Cemetery with Veterans Honors.
Mr. Daniels was a native of Gaffney, South Carolina, having made North Augusta his home for the past 59 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta and the Priscilla and Aquilla Sunday School Class. Mr. Daniels graduated from Gaffney High School at the age of 16 and enlisted in the Merchant Marine at 17 where he became a Radio Operator and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1958 graduate of Clemson University and an avid "Tiger" fan and was a retired Electrical Engineer from the E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant. Mr. Daniels was the husband of the late Mrs. Edna Koon McKie Daniels.
Survivors include a son, Stephen J. Daniels; a daughter, Mary Rheney Martin; three grandchildren, Mary Kay E. Martin, James F. Martin, III and Riley Gene Martin; his wife's children, Russell (Vicki) McKie, Melanie (Landon) Meadow and Don McKie; grandchildren, Rusty McKie, Raven McKie Neivel, Caleb Meadow, Joshua Meadow, Caroline McKie, Danielle McKie Ballard and Will McKie; three great-grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Priscilla and Aquilla Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Riley Martin, Don McKie, Russell McKie, Steve Daniels, Landon Meadow, Neil Smith and Daniel Thornton.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
