Gary Thomas Obituary

Mr. Gary Jerome Thomas, 75, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mrs. Joanne Thomas. Together, they raised three children: Timothy Thomas, Daniel Thomas, and Wendy Thomas. Gary was a proud grandfather to Noah Sharpe, Tripp Caffery, Tessa Caffery, Hunter Thomas, Reagan Thomas, and Autumn Thomas, and great-grandfather to Maddox Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings Kenneth Thomas, Sandra Moody (Mike), Patsy Daughtry, and Wanda Downing (Gary) and his sister-in-law who was like a sister to him, Jeannie Shoptaw. Gary's circle of love extended to his close friends Margaret Riney and her son, John Riney, who was like a son to him, along with John's wife Heather and their children Hunter, Taylor, and Mason; as well as his community of friends at St. John Towers. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Robert Thomas, his siblings Richard "Dicky" Thomas, Mark Thomas, and Mike Thomas, as well as his grandson Brandon Thomas. In his younger years Gary enjoyed deer hunting. He was affectionately known as the "Sausage and Vegetable Man" at the flea market on the corner of Highway 421 and Dixie Clay Rd in Bath, SC. He also worked as a heavy equipment and dozer operator. Gary shared many memories with his friends and family at St. John Towers, where he would make and give away handmade crosses and crafts. He also loved Bingo, where he always tweeted his horn when his magic number 22 was called, which made everyone laugh. In accordance with his wishes, Gary will be cremated and no services held.
