Cole, Sr.
LADSON, SC - A celebration of life service for Mr. Garland Clarence Cole, Sr. age 73 will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Port Royal United Methodist Church, Port Royal, SC with Walter C. Cole officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy Ceremonial team. Interment will be held at a later date in the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
Mr. Cole was the beloved husband of Debra Padgett Cole, and a son of the late Mr. Gordon Carl Cole, Sr., and the late Mrs. Bertha Madeline Schutz Cole. He was born on Parris Island, SC and grew up in Port Royal, SC. He had made Ladson, SC his home for the past 28 years.
Mr. Cole was a retired Asst. Fire Chief at Marine Corp Air Station in Beaufort, SC, and retired as the general manager of Sea Island Stages, Charleston, SC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was of the Methodist faith.
Additional survivors include one son, Garland Clarence Cole, Jr. Florence, SC; one daughter, Lynda Kay Cole, and her partner, Robin Kline, Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Grace C. Cole, Daniel T. Masterson, Samantha (William) Clinton, Shelby Cole, Sean Cole; one great grandchild, Anniston Clinton; two brothers, Walter C. (Joy) Cole, Beaufort, SC, William C. (Susan) Cole, Aiken, SC. Mr. Cole was also predeceased by three brothers, Gordon Carl Cole, Jr., Howard Arthur Cole, and Glen Harold Cole, and three sisters, Estelle "Red" Cole Hendrix, Marion Cole Corbett, and Geraldine "Jerry" Cole Colter.
