Fred and Kathy are big hearted, loving and highly principled people. They shared their home with Sister Cindy Mahoney, and she loved them and their family unconditionally. I had known and come to love Kathy through Aiken Peace, where Kathy introduced me to Cindy and we also became friends. I spent many hours in their home during Cindy's last year of life, and saw their generosity, kindness, wit and wisdom first hand. Fred had been working on converting a downstairs bedroom into his study; but when Cindy could no longer manage the stairs, he instantly offered it to her. I wish I had known him better. I know his death has left an enormous hole in the entire family's hearts and I am so sorry for your loss. Kathy, to have loved and been loved by such a uniquely bright, witty and caring man is a wonderful thing, and because you shared your lives so well and for so long, your grieving and the pain of the loss will take much time. If there is anything, in my dilapidated state, that I can do; please let me know. Namaste and Peace.

In the time I got to know Fred, I found him to be a very kind, compassionate and caring man. He was a very smart man and you could talk to him about anything. He was also a wonderful mentor to his son-in-law Matt Conner. He will be dearly missed.
