Raymond Tarnaski Obituary

Tarnaski, Raymond 12/22/1929 - 6/14/2019 Ann Arbor Raymond A. Tarnaski of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 89. Raymond, also known as "Ray" or "Gramps," was a proud Michigander born in Bessemer, MI to Walter and Mary (Popko) Tarnaski. Ray married Alice Ball on December 31, 1955 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Alice preceded him in death in 1999, yet she remained the 'love of his life' until his own passing. A proud veteran, Ray served in the Navy from 1948-1955 and participated in the Korean War. Soon after, Ray worked for the University of Michigan Power Plant. Once retired, Ray, Alice and their grandson Brandin spent much of their time traveling. Ray was a devout Catholic. In addition, he was a firm believer in loving life, family and friends. Weather permitting, he'd sit on his front porch waving and talking to anyone who happened to go by the house. Ray was also an avid sports fan. He loved a good 'U of M' football game and Detroit Tigers baseball. Ray is survived by his four children Jim, Cyndi Apostoleris (Nick), Steve (Joni), and Nancee (Curt). Nine grandchildren; April, Brandin (Tanya), Ashley (deceased), Sarah Betts (Ben), Emily, Kolin, Hannah, Ray and Marcus. Seven great-grandchildren; Brittany, Adrein, Alyssa, Morgan, Talon, Braylin and Charlee. Ray adored them all. The family will be having a 'Celebration of Life' as Ray had wished. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mott Children's Hospital in memory of Raymond A. Tarnaski.
