Ernice Johnson Ferguson
AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Ernice Johnson Ferguson, 96, widow of Mr. Thompson Ferguson, entered into rest on Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the comfort of her home.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Barney Otto and Lilly Glover Johnson. She retired from Julia's Dress Shop in Aiken, SC, after forty-six years of service. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and hunting. More than anything however, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved and cared for.
In addition to her husband and parents, family members include her children, the late Linda Richardson, sister, the late Rhea Burgess, grandchildren, Wade Jackson and his wife, Cheryl, Aiken, SC and Charles Jackson and his companion, Deborah Vermillion, Aiken, SC; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Jackson, North Augusta, SC, Charles McKinley Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Sally, Aiken, SC and Nicholas Jackson, Aiken, SC; nieces, who were more like children to her, Susan Wade and Judith Burgess, both of Aiken, SC and let us not forget her three legged child, her dog, the late Joe.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 10 o'clock in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC, with Pastor Dexter Lambert officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
If so desired, memorials may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church.
The family will greet friends on (this evening) Monday, October 12, 2015, from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
