Eric Ben Obituary

AIKEN, SC – Eric Stephen Ben, age 61, passed away July 4, 2024. Eric was born December 14, 1962 in Louisville, KY to the late Raymond and Jane Ben. He received his undergraduate degree in Oceanography from the College of Charleston and his Masters Degree in Counseling from Augusta College. He made Aiken as his home since 2003 and loved his church, St. Thaddeus, where he was a member of the audio team and avid member of the Stream Team. He loved sports, tennis, and his dogs. Survivors include his husband, Michael Smart; sister, Christine Matulich (Russ); nephews, Walter and Raymond Matulich; brothers-in-law, Robert Smart (Lucy) and Stephen Smart (Patti) and sister-in-law, Michelle Kirby (Larry). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with a reception to follow in the Stephenson-McClelland building. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Building Fund, 125 Pendleton St SW, Aiken, SC 29801 or Friends of the Aiken County Animal Shelter, PO Box 2207, Aiken SC 29802.
