Ellen Causey Zielinski
Aiken - ELLEN CAUSEY ZIELINSKI, 64, beloved wife of Stephen M. Zielinski, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 following an extended illness.
A native of Aiken, Ellen was a daughter of the late Robert and Eloise Hucks Causey. She grew up in Aiken and graduated from Aiken High School in 1976 and was named "Miss Senior". Ellen was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After her discharge she served in the Navy Reserves for a total of 21 years, serving around the world, including Germany and Japan, retiring in 2009. Ellen was an advocate for senior citizens, working as activities and admissions director at senior living facilities in Charleston and Myrtle Beach. She was a former corporate trainer for Weight Watchers and was a volunteer coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Summerville, SC. She returned to Aiken in 2020.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Steve, include two daughters, Aja Lauren London (Matthew), Lavonia, GA, Rhiannon Shelbourne (Courtney), Charleston, SC; two step-sons, Micheal Zielinski, Aiken, Raymond Zielinski (Samantha), Beaufort, SC; thirteen grandchildren; a brother, Charles Causey (Cate), Anderson, SC, a sister, Debbie Kirk (Shannon), Lexington, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon beginning at noon at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 1 o'clock with The Rev. Dr. Kirk Lawton officiating. Inurnment will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, 2724 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
The family offers special thanks to Lenzie Wilson and all the caregivers and staff of Shadow Oaks Assisted Living for their loving and professional care of Ellen.
