Ella Ruth Curry Simpkins
AIKEN, SC - Funeral services for Ms. Ella Ruth Curry Simpkins, age 83, who passed away Thursday, August 17, 2016 at Aiken Regional Medical Center will be held 3 PM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Union Baptist Church, 412 Union Baptist Road (Viewing 2-3PM) with Rev. David R. Williams, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory; a son, Dr. Larry Curry; a sister, Mattie C. Tolliver; a brother, Dr. William J. Curry Jr. (Beatrice); two grandchildren, Deborah M. Curry and Laurence Curry (Brittany); two great-grandchildren, Jacob Curry and Maceo Curry.
She was a cosmetologist for over 50 years, a devoted member of Union Baptist Church, as well as a member of the State and National Cosmetology Associations. Ella Ruth was a long standing State and National Cosmetologist Historian. She was a dedicated president of Pine Lawn Cemetery Board working tirelessly to support families in need. She was a past President and member of Union Baptist Usher Board and was active in the community, volunteering for a number of Aiken's churches and county groups She was Past Worthy Matron of the Effingham Chapter of Eastern Stars and a former member of American Legion Post 212, as well as a faithful employee of Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home. Ella Ruth Curry will be greatly missed and she was a beloved servant and child of God.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-7:30 PM.
