Edgar Redd Obituary
Augusta, GA – Funeral Services for Edgar Terrell Redd, Jr., 76, who entered into rest September 3, 2025, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5. Mr. Redd was born September 11, 1948, in Augusta, GA, to the late Edgar and Martha Redd. In the 1970s, he began his career in dictation and office product sales, then a new and transformative technology for the workplace. He quickly recognized how these tools could help people work more efficiently and believed deeply in their value. His dedication and vision carried him to the role of National Sales Director, where he inspired a team that still remembers his leadership and impact. Life took him westward during those years, where he embraced cowboy hats, rodeos and the open spirit of Oklahoma and Texas. In the 1980s, he and his family returned to Georgia, settling in Atlanta. There, he shifted into investment banking, focusing on rebuilding underperforming companies. Though his work demanded frequent travel, which was hard on his family, it also introduced him to people and places across the country he came to love deeply. A patriotic man at heart, he often likened his many adventures to the character Edward Bloom from one of his favorite films, Big Fish. The work he was most proud of, outside his family, was real estate development, especially Highland Falls in Blairsville, GA. He always said God guided him on that journey, leading him to create an environmentally protected community that preserved the land's beauty. He knew every inch of that property and believed in it wholeheartedly. Visitors to Highland Falls often recall finding him at the base of the hill with pots of chili and baskets of apples, ready to share a story and a tour, often led by his loyal companion and best dog ever, Pretty, who knew just where to stop and show off the land's treasures. Those who made Highland Falls their home understood and appreciated his vision. Throughout his career, he took risks-sometimes guided by luck, sometimes by calculation-but always with faith and conviction. That belief, coupled with his love for people, defined his success. He was, as he often said of himself, a "big fish in a small pond," a dreamer with a boundless imagination. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, hiking, skiing and boating. But above all, his greatest legacy lives in the people he touched and the lives he enriched along the way. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Holmes; two daughters, Taylor Vivian (Steven), Lindsay Fruchtl (Jason); son, James Redd (Abbey); five grandchildren, Pearson Vivian, Douglass Vivian, Zachary Fruchtl, Maddux Redd and Sander Stefanelli; stepdaughter, Laurie Holmes (Dana Stefanelli); sister Susan George (Glenn). Pallbearers will be James Redd, Steven Vivian, Jason Fruchtl, Zachary Fruchtl, Maddux Redd, Robert Moak and Brett George. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, www.parkinson.org
