Dea. James Jacob Briggs Aka Jimmy Briggs Obituary

Deacon James J. Briggs, affectionately known as "Jimmy Briggs" was born on July 19, 1947, in Aiken County, South Carolina, to the late Willie Lee and Naomi Moore Briggs. He peacefully departed this life on November 27, 2025, to be with his Heavenly Father. At an early age, he joined Rosa Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Wagener, South Carolina, where he faithfully served the Lord. He was later installed as a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Wilbur J. Simmons. Deacon Briggs took great pride in his church, his calling, and his service to God. He was educated in the Aiken County Public School System and was a proud member of the Martha Schofield High School Class of 1967. Later in life, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Rosetta Blocker Briggs, with whom he shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. In 1995, he retired from the Aiken County School District, where he worked faithfully as an HVAC/Electrician. Prior to his retirement and before his health declined, he was known as a hardworking and dedicated employee. Outside of work, he had a deep love for horses, farming, and working outdoors. He also found joy in helping others within his community. One of his greatest pleasures was cooking his famous dishes for family and friends. Deacon Briggs leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Rosetta Briggs; his children, Lanard Briggs of Aiken, SC, Darcy Ann (Albert) Dunbar of Greenwood, SC, Lasonia Briggs of Aiken, SC, and Travis Briggs of Shelbyville, TN; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
He will be forever remembered for his dedication to God, his family, and his community.
