Darrin Blackwell Obituary
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Mr. Darrin E. Blackwell, 49, husband of Kathleen Daugherty Blackwell, entered into rest on Thursday, January 28th, 2016.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of Eugene and Martha McIntosh Blackwell, Couchton, SC.
He graduated from South Aiken High School in 1984 and began his thirty year career with SRNS.
Darrin was a member of Hillview Baptist Church and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed football and playing softball. His favorite teams were the Dolphins, Panthers and let us not forget, his beloved Clemson Tigers. He also enjoyed collecting Marvel Comics and figurines, football jerseys and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and was a former volunteer firefighter with Montmorenci-Couchton.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include, his children, Brandon Blackwell, North Augusta, SC and Lauren Turner and her husband, Cody, Martinez, GA; step-children, Brenda Murphy and her husband, Charles, Jackson, SC and Debra Brooks and her husband, Jeff, Harriman, TN; grandmother, Evie Hutto and her husband, Mitch, Langley, SC; granddaughter, Alyssa Turner, step-grandchildren, Jacob, Kenneth, Noah and Owen Murphy and Carl and Vanessa Brooks, aunts and uncles, Connie Adkins and her husband, Jerry, North Augusta, SC, Terry McIntosh and his wife, Jean, Clearwater, SC, Yvonna Kenny and her husband, Mark, North Augusta, SC and James McIntosh and his wife, Cammie, Langley, SC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 1st, 2016, at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastors Tad Marshall and Landon Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
It has been requested by the family, that if so desired, memorials be made to Hillview Baptist Church. (www.hillviewchurch.org)
The family will greet friends on Monday from 11 until 2 o'clock at HATCHER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, LANGLEY, SC.

Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell, Darrin was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Aiken in 1999. We met at Millbrook Baptist and he was truly one of my favorite people to get to see every week. I've only seen him a handful of times since then, but each time, he would stop and talk like it had only been days since we last saw each other. He was someone who you knew truly listened to you. Each time we saw each other he would mention stuff I said the time before. I am truly saddened by the fact I won't see him smile his smile when I see him out shopping or at Cracker Barrel. I am so sorry for your loss.
