Constance M. Conklin
BEECH ISLAND, SC - Mrs. Constance M. Conklin, 76, wife of Mr. Charles A. Conklin, of Beech Island, SC, passed away March 16, 2016.
Born July 5, 1939 in Jamesport, NY, she was the only child of the late Casimir Batynski and Florence Wolanski Batynski.
Constance loved going to yard sales and finding bargains. She was known for her baking. Her children remember her pound cakes and Christmas cookies the best. She could often be found crabbing with her husband late in the evenings. When she was with her grandchildren, she would have them pick raspberries to sell at the local farm stand. She also loved to tend to her raspberries. Her children remember her picking small bouquets to deliver to the neighbors "just because". She was known for her generosity.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years; her children, Cheryl Kaswell of Cutchogue, NY, June Barkley of Augusta, GA, Charles Conklin, Jr.
(Azalea) of Delano, CA and Wendy Bowen of Beech Island, SC; her grandchildren, George Buckingham, Jr. (Jessica) of Mattituck, NY, Gerry Buckingham (Savannah) of Beech Island, SC, Andrew Buckingham, Beech Island, SC, Connie Bowen (Dillon) of San Diego, CA, Allison Broschart, Columbia, SC, Bonnie Buckingham, Beech Island, SC, Charles Conklin, III, Delano, CA and John Carter, Delano, CA; and her 2 great-grandchildren, Kylie and Aubriegh Buckingham.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11AM at Hatcher Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Conklin's memory to the charity of one's choice.
