Colette passed away at her home in Concord with her devoted family by her side. She was active until cancer finally took her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Cosmo Domenic Tedeschi, her children Steven Savage, Gregory (Diane) Savage, David Savage and Ann Savage-Bair. She was also blessed with four step sons Michael (Tonya) Tedeschi, Cosmo (Kathy) Tedeschi, Peter (Doug) Tedeschi and Patrick Tedeschi. She is survived by her dear brother Gary (Pam) Ludwig. Colette had 17 grandchildren: Stephanie, Danielle, Steven, Kristin, Andrew, Garrett, Matthew, Christopher, Katie, Cosmo, Cody, Jennifer, Alyssa, Noah, James, Domenic, Alexandra, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, George (Bud) William Savage, Jr., in October 1981.
Colette was born in San Francisco to Jeanne and William Perow. She lived with her mother, aunt and uncle who had emigrated from France. Her mother remarried and they moved to Richmond where she graduated from Richmond High in 1952.
Colette was the love and light of Cosmo's life. From the moment they met in 1983, they have enjoyed 30+ years of joyful memories including travel throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. Their most cherished memories were enjoyed at their cabin in Mendocino where many of her family and friends enjoyed taking walks, evening bon fires, sharing stories and memories.
Colette volunteered as her children's room mother at Sun Terrace Elementary and helped with many activities and fund raisers at Mt. Diablo High School. She gave countless hours volunteering as a pink lady at Mt. Diablo Hospital, working as a teacher's aide at Crawford Village and Sun Terrace Elementary for more than 40 years, teaching quilting to ladies at the Chateau Retirement Home, as treasurer and a founding board member of the Concord Bocce Federation, helping to renovate the Ruth Galindo House, a member of the Druids and the Clayton Valley Women's Club.
Her joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was evident in the expressions of love she bestowed upon her family. She was an expert quilter, gardener and loved to cook. Her laughter was testimony to the joy she had for life.
Anyone who called Colette a friend knows they were blessed to have her as part of their life and she will be missed by all. Her family extends many thanks to each and everyone who helped during the difficult time at the end of her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 5, at 1:00 pm, at the Concord Senior Center, Baldwin Park, 2727 Parkside Circle, Concord, CA 94519.
In honor of Colette and in lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to The American Arthritis Foundation or The Make A Wish Foundation.
