After several moves with IBM he settled in Chattanooga, Tennessee serving as branch manager for the IBM office there for 15 years. They returned to the U.S. in early 1978 for medical treatment for Pat who died in May of that year.
After their marriage in 1980, Clyde and Kit lived in South Florida for several years until he retired from IBM. They then moved to Aiken, South Carolina, settling into Woodside Plantation where he served on the club's Board of Directors. He loved Duke University, college and professional football, and his dogs.
