Charles Williams Obituary

Charles A. Williams, D.D.S.
Jackson, SC - Dr. Charles ("Charley") Williams, 73, entered into rest June 3, 2014, at his home with family by his side.
Funeral Services wereconducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Craig Baynham officiating. Interment immediately followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery in North Augusta, with Military Honors. Pallbearers were Blaine Williams, SSG Charles Adam Williams, Dr. Allen Annis, Larry Valery, Mark Valery and Chris Burkhalter. The familyl received friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5 until 7.
Charley was a life-long resident of Aiken County. He was born March 7, 1941, the 10th of 14 children. While in school, he was an accomplished athlete: At North Augusta High School, he played nearly all sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and track and field, lettering in many. He went on to letter in multiple sports at the University of South Carolina, including football and baseball. Charley was a member of USC's Block C. In 2013, he was inducted into the North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a graduate of the University of Tennessee Dental School. Dr. Williams practiced dentistry for 49 years, committed to helping those in need. He was active in many civic and community groups. He was an Ordained Minister who was active in his Faith; his love of Christ guided everything he did. Charley was a kind, humble, and generous man with a large, outgoing personality who enjoyed playing sports, coaching Little League Baseball, hunting, and fishing. Throughout his life, he was driven to bring a smile to anyone he met, and would always do so, either with a kind word or through his commanding sense of humor. To Charley Williams, nobody was a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Karen V. Williams; two sons, Blaine Williams (Joanie), Athens, GA, and SSG Charles Adam Williams (April), Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Dr. Ashley Williams (Dr. David Allen Annis, Jr.,), Cambridge, MA, Toni Devin Williams, Sparta, GA, and Jennifer Burkhalter (Chris), Oklahoma City, OK; a brother, Harold Williams, North Augusta, SC; a sister, Lois Marble, Augusta, GA; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Dental Association's "Give Kids a Smile" program at ada.org. Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta in charge of arrangements (803.278.1181).
