AIKEN, SC - A celebration of life service for Mrs. Cathryn Ella Hallman McGee, age 96, will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday January 8, 2016 at Levels Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ronald Hasty and Rev. Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Park.
Mrs. McGee entered into rest Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at N H C Health Care, North Augusta. She was a native of Gooseplatter, SC and had made Aiken County her home for most of her life. Mrs. McGee was the wife of the late Mr. Horace David McGee. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Arthur Hallman and the late Mrs. Beulah Bedenbaugh Hallman. Mrs. McGee served as the Dietician for North Aiken Elementary and Aiken Preparatory School for 10 years. She was the oldest surviving active member of Levels Baptist Church where she was a former member of the church choir and a current member of the Bethany Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Horace Dale (Karen) McGee, Augusta, GA, Arthur Donald (Barbara) McGee, Aiken; one daughter, Patrice Wray (Jim) McGee-Bartley, Trenton; one sister, Frances Shealy, Lexington; seven grandchildren, Christopher Donald (Missy) McGee, Krista (Chris) Faulk, Erin (Mark) Walker, Garrett Douglas (Sarah) McGee,
Lauren Fulmer McTier, T.G. Sawyer, and Tiffany Dale McGee, and thirteen Great Grandchildren. Mrs. McGee was also predeceased by one daughter, Cynthia Marilyn Moore, four sisters, Eloise Stone, Faye Burgess, Dorothy Evans, Rena Shealy, two brothers, M.C. Hallman, A.W. Hallman, her second husband, Mr. Furman Jayroe.
Pallbearers will be Chris McGee, Garrett McGee, T.G. Sawyer, Carl Burgess, Curtis Hallman, Maxwell Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Great Grand Children.
Memorials may be made to Levels Baptist Church, 2456 Levels Church Road, Aiken, SC, 29801 or to Central Christian Church, 220 Crawford Ave., Augusta, GA, 30904.
The family would like to express gratitude of thanks to Caris Hospice and especially to Melody Rollo for the compassionate care that was given. Melody you will never be forgotten for all of what you did for our mother.
