Catherine Frances Kirchner
Aiken - CATHERINE FRANCES KIRCHNER, 97, widow of Allen William Kirchner, Sr., passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, in The Place at Pepper Hill.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Catherine was the daughter of the late Joseph Patrick and Catherine Elizabeth Lembach Colleran. She lived most of her life in the Baltimore area and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She was communicant of St. Mark Catholic Church in Catonsville for many years before moving to Columbus, Ohio for a short time. She and her family returned to the Baltimore area and lived in Ellicott City before she and her husband relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and then finally to Ocean Pines, Maryland, where she lived for 30 years. Catherine was very active in the community and in Holy Savior Catholic Church, Ocean City, MD.
Catherine loved the beach, golf, boating and fishing and frequently navigated her own boat to fish off-shore. She travelled extensively throughout the world with her husband. Catherine moved to Aiken seven years ago to be near her son and his family.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Allen W. Kirchner, Jr, and his wife, Theresa, of Aiken; grandchildren, Jesse Kirchner (Lenna), Charleston, SC; Stephanie Heiner (Darren), Henderson, NV; step grandson, Jonathan Ellis, Aiken; great-grandchildren, Colleran and Clara Kirchner, Noah and Brady Heiner; a sister, Joan Huntt, Berlin, MD; a brother, Jack Colleran, Severna Park, MD; a brother-in-law, Richard Brown (Lorraine), Baltimore, MD, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Pappas and Anita Kennison.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 26, from 3-5 pm at Burbage Funeral Home, 108 William St, Berlin, MD. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Friday, May 27, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Ocean City, MD.
