Carrie Vaughn
Greenwood - Mrs. Carrie Bell Atchison Vaughn, widow of Reverend Joseph H. Vaughn, Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Self Regional Healthcare after a brief illness.
She was born in Aiken County, SC to the late Henry Atchison and Mamie Quattlebaum Atchison. She was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church where she served in the Missionary and Pastors Aid Ministries.
She was the last survivor of all her siblings. She was predeceased by in addition to her husband and parents, two sons, James Vaughn, and Joseph Vaughn, Jr.; a daughter, Louise Alberta Curry; two brothers, Jesse Atchison and John Henry Atchison; three sisters, Amy Henderson, Annie Mae Glover and Blossom Moore.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, three sons, Marvin Vaughn, Ronald Vaughn and Charles Vaughn all of Greenwood, four daughters, Lorraine (Abraham, Jr.) Sanders of Aiken, Carolyn Lomax, Lavern (William) Jones, Gloria (Johnnie) Davis all of Greenwood; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors.
The family is deeply grateful for the staff at Self Regional Healthcare who so graciously cared for Mrs. Vaughn.
Services for Mrs. Vaughn will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Young's Chapel Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Reverend Dr. James L. Holmes officiating. Public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.
The family will recieve friends at the home of a daughter, Lorraine Sanders, 117 Van Bryan Drive, Aiken SC, 803-648-0895.
