AIKEN - CAROLYN FAGLIE TURNER
Mrs. Carolyn Faglie Turner, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Aiken, SC. She was the widow of Lewis Johnson "Johnny" Turner, Jr. They were married for 65 years prior to his death in June, 2023.
Carolyn was born October 8, 1939 in Augusta, GA, a daughter of the late Nora Gillion Faglie Purvis and Buford Gilmore Faglie. She was a graduate of North Augusta High School and attended Augusta College. After moving from Union to Spartanburg in 1974, she became a faculty member of the Converse College Pre-College Division where she taught piano for over 40 years. Mrs. Turner was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she had served as Director of Ministries. She was very active in the SC Federation of Music Clubs, Spartanburg Music Club and Union Music Club. The Turners were involved in the communities where they lived. Prior to their deaths, Carolyn and Johnny were making their home at National Health Care, North Augusta.
Surviving are her daughters and their spouses; Terri Ellis, Linda Serkiz (Steve), Beth Pierpont (Chris) and Allison Williams (Wendell); six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her step-father, John W. Purvis, her sister, Linda J. Cook, and her son-in-law, Barry L. Ellis.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2023 at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 12:30 until 2:00 PM prior to the service and following the committal service at the church.
