Carey Mathison Obituary
AIKEN - Mr. Carey Mathison, 82, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mr. Mathison was born in Clayton, AL, a son of the late Elias Taft Mathison and Willie Mae Fillingim Mathison. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1954, and retired from USC Aiken where he was an electrician. He was of Methodist faith, and served in the US Army. Mr. Mathison was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Harriett McCarty Mathison; a son, Robert Taft (Sharon) Mathison, Aiken; grandchildren, Cameron Mathison, Anthony Mathison; a brother, Douglas William Mathison, Manchester, NH.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, and the funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Broach officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Scott Peace, Will Bell, Lee Benson, Chris Edwards, Edward Ford, and Ira McKuhn.
Memorials may be directed to Bethel Baptist Church, 1127 Bethel Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
