Bobby Godwin Obituary
AIKEN, SC - A celebration of life service for Mr. Bobby Joe Godwin, age 74 will be held 2:00 pm Saturday March 18, 2017 at Cole Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Napier officiating. Mr. Godwin was a native of Andrews, SC and had made Aiken County, SC his home since 1963, he was recently moved down to Tampa, FL to live with his daughter, Angela Godwin Lugo. Mr. Godwin was the husband of the late Mrs. Jacqueline Craig Godwin and a son of the late Mr. Willis Boyd Godwin and the late Mrs. Hattie Howard Godwin. He had retired after 18.5 years of service with the South Carolina Department of Forestry, and was employed by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office for 7 years. Mr. Godwin was a fire fighter with the Center Fire Department and served as assistant fire chief for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a life time member of the VFW Post 10601. Bobby enjoyed retirement at Lake Murray, SC, boating and fishing with his family and friends. Survivors include three sons, James Russell "Rusty" Godwin and Danny L. (Michelle) Godwin of Aiken, David Leaphart, Jr., Ohio; two daughters, Angela (Fiance' Paul Brady) Godwin Lugo, Tampa, FL, Tina L. (Ken)Lott, Graniteville; three brothers, Jessie Godwin, Andrews, John J. "J.T." (Connie) Thomas,
Timmonsville, John Lewis "Knocker" (Nancy) Thomas, Aiken; two sisters, Kathy Thomas Bell, and Peggy Thomas (Arthur) Moore of Andrews; twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Mr. Godwin was also predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Godwin, Roland "Bubba" Thomas; one sister, Evelyn Godwin Turner. Just the other day I was looking at E Bay and saw a collectable card that had C B handles on it . This was from years back when you would see how far your CB station could talk and would swap these collectable cards with other stations . The card had KCQ - 1754 . Bobby Godwin , home of Prairie Dog , Cat Woman and Store Keeper at a RT. 4 address . I remember Bobby well , driving the forestry truck and the crawler dozer . He was always ready to roll and had a kind word . Time flies as this seems like yesterday he was plowing around fires & on the CB . Rest Well and Godspeed ~

It's been many years fella and you leave many friends behind. R.I.P. old man. He never liked it when I refereed to him as "old man" Bobby was 12 years older but only in his 50s during those years. A better time.
